Yesterday Steve and I took some time off from knockout to play with stencils. The mission was create some type using a variety of fine materials. We ended up using coffee grounds, pencil shavings, colored sprinkles, tumeric, ground up chives, and a variety of other herbs and spices.

Once the stencils were cut, we sprayed some mounting adhesive through them onto illustration paper and then sprinkled the ingredients across the adhesive. Simple but effective technique.

We played with negative space too.

I’m a big fan of the curlies in Steve’s pencil shavings stencil.

Yes! This campaign by Zoo York is a little outdated at this point but maybe it’s more relevant now that Wall Street has failed us all.

Regardless, it’s always a little funny to watch suits squirm.
