LSDK
I really like this event invitation done by German design firm LSDK. Their whole portfolio is great, which is extra impressive considering they were just founded in 2009. You can check out more on their website.

More than decent print & packaging work from Australian agency Mash. I don’t particularly like vodka, but it’s become clear to me that I need to design a bottle before I hang my hat with design. This is just about as sexy as they come in terms of packaging…

Dear Client,
The best way for you to utilize your marketing budget in this day in age is without a doubt a print campaign. Forget the fancy websites, the apps, the social media spends. Put your money in print. Pretty please? That way we can actually feel a sense of accomplishment when we finish a job. Take a look at the portfolio of LoSiento as a reference point for some really amazing print work.
Sincerely,
Designers Across the World

Check out the Railinc Annual Report I got back from the printer on Friday! This is the second year in a row that I’ve designed this annual report, and it was really fun and challenging to push myself to make it better than last year.

There’s plenty of thoughtful print work to browse in Xavier Encinas’s portfolio. I could use a little more diversity in the way he photographs his work, but I’m probably just being picky. It’s nice to see a designer focus on just the print medium; hold it down Xavier!

Before I get into the plain and simple fact that THIS SHIT IS AMAZING – let me preface by saying that I found this treasure of history and art at my public library. That’s right. You remember those places don’t you? Where they have those things called BOOKS. I recommend both books and libraries.
Ok, so, I found this book on Eskimo printmaking and was shocked to found out that though Inuit sculpture is older than time, printmaking is a relatively new means of art for these people. In fact, it’s as late as 20th century – 1957 to be exact. Apparently a Canadian dude (James Houston) saw an Inuit man comparing logos on his cigarette boxes, showed him what a print was by rubbing ink on a tusk and transfering onto a piece of toilet paper (for real) whereby the Inuit man rightly said, “We can do that.” Amazing. And after the jump are just a few of the hardcore images that some of the wildest and toughest (kinda Canadian) people on Earth came up with:

Whew. What a great time we had at the Alt Summit this weekend. I promise to post my two cents and some snapshots of the conference asap. In the meantime, check out the work of Australia based studio 21-19. It’s hard to find a design firm that can strike such a balance between print & motion design. Here is a self-promo motion piece they put together:
More print work after the jump!

Card Observer is a new site dishing up an aggregrate of interesting business card designs. It’s a little thin now, but this should be a great resource soon.
