When Graphic Designers come together to found a new firm, in the Netherlands, an angel gets his wings. Or something. Really though. RAD work. Strong typographically, great editorial work, and a beautiful site.
Have 2 minutes for something inspiring and cool? Of course you do.
This animated short is directed and created by four obviously talented students at the Utrecht School of Arts in the Netherlands. I truly appreciate the cinematic techniques used and the way they edited it. The speed, style and imagination of this is inspiring and really fun to watch. There is a nice balance of traditional looking and computer assisted 3D animation.

Last week we received a nice little email from the gang over at Patswerk, a cool new design agency started by some young + aspiring designers + illustrators in the Netherlands. Maybe it’s their playful use of hand drawn type or maybe the fact that they’re just as likely to put a rattle can to a wall as they are to open up Photoshop, I’m not sure, but I get more of a collective vibe than an agency one. That’s a very good thing.
Clever, enthusiastic design from Netherlands agency DC Works. I love a firm whose portfolio showcases a good balance between high-impact, colorful work and more subtle design.
Desiree Dolron is a photographer from Haarlem, Netherlands. She has a deep body of work with a range of aesthetics and subject matter. I’m particularly drawn to her portrait series Xteriorswhere she exhibits to her devotion to painting and pays an homage to 17th century dutch artists such as Vermeer.
The piece below actually looks a later, blinder Rembrandt.
