It’s always exciting when we get the opportunity to give back and help out some of our neighbors. There’s something so great about the creative freedom you’re allowed when working with pro-bono clients.
We just completed this brochure/poster that celebrates the 23rd season of Manbites Dog Theater. Check them out, they’re kinda a Durham institution.
A short while ago we had the pleasure of interviewing our good friend Armando Bellmas while enjoying some frozen treats. Armando is a commercial photographer based in Charlotte, NC who thrives on working with & photographing people. He’s a hell of a guy and he’s always welcome in our studio.
(I recommend using headphones while watching the video… it was too windy for our super expensive, high-end camera equipment)
Yesterday Steve and I took some time off from knockout to play with stencils. The mission was create some type using a variety of fine materials. We ended up using coffee grounds, pencil shavings, colored sprinkles, tumeric, ground up chives, and a variety of other herbs and spices.
Once the stencils were cut, we sprayed some mounting adhesive through them onto illustration paper and then sprinkled the ingredients across the adhesive. Simple but effective technique.
We were quite pleased with the results. Check out all the pics in our flickr set.
We played with negative space too.
I’m a big fan of the curlies in Steve’s pencil shavings stencil.
Ok, so most of you who follow okgreat know that we like to hoop it up pretty much every afternoon and as you can imagine it’s starting to get a little warm down here in NC. So Woody, we’ve got pretty high ceilings… can we get a Big Ass Fan?

If I had known we had a paper shredder in Flywheel before yesterday, this would have been done a long time ago. The best part about our paper shredder is that it chops the paper up into beautiful little surfboard shapes. Look for plenty more of these type experiments coming in the near future…

The gang at Flywheel is hosting a fundraising event for the Obama campaign on October 9th from 5-8pm. The party will feature a live performance by Mosadi Music & is sponsored by PBR. This desktop wallpaper incorporates the three posters we designed for the event. Enjoy!
