First Friday: May

Tomorrow is first Friday, and that means it’s time for the downtown gallery walk in Raleigh! Lump gallery will  be featuring an exhibition of new work by Brooklyn artist Cammi Climaco in a show called Yesterday was yesterday, Tomorrow is ours. The opening reception will be from 7-10 pm tomorrow, May 1st, and if you miss that, you’ll have a chance to check it out throughout May on Saturdays from noon-5 pm. Lump gallery is located at 505 South Blount Street.

Showing sculpture and video, this show will feature pieces that are a mix of object, installation and text. Climaco’s work is inspired by the accidental and usually unintentional stumbling across of intimate moments, through her own experiences and the empathic experience of others. Within the dichotomy between the delicate balance of hope and despair, her work is representative of both the staving off of loneliness and the potential for joy and merriment.

Tomorrow there will also be a show opening at The Fish Market called SCALE, in which the coordinators left the interpretation of “scale” up to submitters. The Fish Market will be open tomorrow from 6 pm to 11 pm, so check it out after you check out Lump! Check out their website for more times and directions.
