Wow. These photos by Hendrik Kerstens of his daughter Paula are breathtaking. And I don’t use words like “breathtaking”, honest. The series is a strange, perverse nod to paintings like “The Girl With a Pearl Earring” and other works by the Dutch masters.

Father and Daughter is a beautiful, depressing and incredibly sparse short film by Dutch filmmaker Michaël Dudok De Wit. It won an Academy award in 2000 but somehow I’ve missed it for the past eight years. Had a chance to take it in this morning and wanted to share with everyone who hasn’t yet seen it. Enjoy!
