(365) Days of Tumblr

About eleven months ago an ambitious Canadian Designer named Aaron Christopher Judd started a project called 365 Days of Tumblr . Every day of the year he posts a well-executed design conceived from an inspirational quote. Aaron’s work is a real double whammy of good design and heavy-hitting quotes. I really like going back to the beginning of his project and seeing how Aaron has refined his technique over time. Definitely worth a follow if you have a tumblr account.

Bjorn Arnason

Bjorn Arnason is a photographer based in Reykjavik, Iceland who has mastered the law of thirds. His work plays with space and balance in an interesting way. I appreciate how he takes large landmarks/objects and makes them feel small by focusing more on the atmosphere rather than centering the subject in the shot.

Disassembly

Todd McLellan is a talented photographer from Canada who has a real gift for disassembling vintage mechanical machines and laying them out in a very interesting way. It’s crazy to actually see just how many small parts are kicking around in each of these things. Also, it’s awesome to see how many quality metal internal parts were used.  Unlike all the cheap plastic junk parts we all unfortunately now deal with.

Day and Night

Photographer Stephen Wilkes has created a project called Day to Night where he takes multiple photos of the New York landscape transitioning from day to night.  He sets up on one location for no less than 10 hours and photographs the same perspective until the sun sets. Then it’s off to Photoshop with his top 30-50 photos to stitch them all together and make magic.
