Todd McLellan is a talented photographer from Canada who has a real gift for disassembling vintage mechanical machines and laying them out in a very interesting way. It’s crazy to actually see just how many small parts are kicking around in each of these things. Also, it’s awesome to see how many quality metal internal parts were used. Unlike all the cheap plastic junk parts we all unfortunately now deal with.
Check out a video of him breaking down an alarm clock after the jump…

Photographer Stephen Wilkes has created a project called Day to Night where he takes multiple photos of the New York landscape transitioning from day to night. He sets up on one location for no less than 10 hours and photographs the same perspective until the sun sets. Then it’s off to Photoshop with his top 30-50 photos to stitch them all together and make magic.

Dimitris Ladopoulos is a director from Athens Greece who is working on a short film series showcasing art & science professionals working with their hands. I always love seeing people working with their hands to make amazing things and look forward to seeing more from this series. The tracking effect is very slick and definitely makes my inner motion graphics nerd very happy.

Tom French is a talented artist from across the pond, whose work and technique is very inspiring. His charcoal drawings successfully breathes new life into Charles Allan Gilbert’s “All Is Vanity” (1892). Tom’s style merges the use of academic tradition with contemporary urban realism. His work has a well balanced duality of being both beautiful and unsettling.

This interesting time-lapse experiment explores the movement and contrast of dark magnetized liquid streaming through soap bubble capillaries. My favorite part is at the end, when the black fluid starts to look almost electric as it’s magnetically drawn to the center. In a world with so much computer generated stuff, it’s great to see someone use conventional techniques and knock it out of the park.

Lei Melendres (aka Leight) is a talented illustrator from the Philippines who doodles like a boss. His work really inspires me to doodle more frequently and work on my handmade type skills. There is so much detail in his work, I pull something new out almost every time I take a look.
