Students! Get your shit together… it’s award season! Be proud of the work you did last year and submit it to the Output Award competition. Grand prize = 3000 Euro!! A selection of works will also be published in the output : yearbook. Here’s a brief overview from the open: output organization – “Works carried out by students usually disappear into drawers after presentation to a relatively small college audience. There the work remains invisible. We want to change that.”

Beautiful photos from a young female student in Shanghai. While her portfolio contains a generous amount of ’shy girl not looking directly at camera’ polaroids, which I’m getting fairly tired of these days, she also has some really thoughtful, narrative work.

Ed Nacional is a current student at Parsons + a design intern at the NY Times.  So, it should be obvious to everyone reading that the kid’s got no future.  I joke, I kid!  Ed has a very, very impressive portfolio.  It’s interesting to see his editorial style carried over into his work outside the walls of the Times.

I am so bummed that I will miss the 2nd Annual UNC Print & Ceramics Sale this Friday. From 9am to 10pm at 144 E Franklin St. (the old Schoolkids) in Chapel Hill, you can buy original photographs, drawings, ceramics, etchings, screenprints, and more. And you know the prices will be cheap! This is a great way to finish (or start) your Christmas shopping!

And, from 10am to 6pm you can visit the UNC Printshop during their Open House. Bring a T shirt to be screenprinted, or some blank cards to be letterpressed. (UNC has a fantastic printshop with all kinds of machinery to drool on.)

Still want more?  Get an inside peek at the Graduate Student’s studios from 6pm-10pm.

Hanes Art Center is located on the UNC campus near the Ackland Art Museum and the intersection of Columbia and Franklin streets.
