Check out this beautiful typography created by Norwegian and Swiss designers Stian Ward Bugten and Simon Egil. It was made by breaking Shakespeare readings down based on loudness and frequency, and assigning certain pattern elements to different sound qualities. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. It’s pretty… but “taking all the information out of the sound” of Shakespeare’s poetry seems like the ultimate literary crime. I mean, then it could just be, like, the phone book or Reader’s Digest or something. Or Nicholas Sparks.
