Katy is an excellent paper cut artist based in Durham. She worked as the in-house designer and archivist for the wonderful Branch Gallery before it closed early this year. Currently she is exhibiting in Atlanta, but will probably be showing again in Durham some time soon. I highly recommend seing her work in person, as the intimacy of the paper silhouettes are somewhat lost on the web.

I don’t know of anyone else going in this direction in American art currently. Very fresh and original. Her current show at Salt Works (ATL) is really a triumph of subtlety and grace in field crowded with posturing and and chest-thumping. Bravo, Ms Clove!
