Found a link to Nicolai Howalt’s website on my desktop this morning. Not sure how or when it got there but I’m glad I followed it…
I really enjoy these stark landscapes, interrupted by trolling hunters from his study “How to Hunt”. Matter of fact, there are a slew of captivating studies (and these actually feel like studies) on his site…

That boxer series is my favorite. Obviously. Also, the car crash study is giving me some inspiration for color combos. Nice find!
These are stunning!!! As different as his subjects are, they all convey a sense of physical and emotional desolation. The dying birds, the windswept trees, the boxers…I’m afraid I’m going to dream about this stuff tonight.
