So Yeah. It's Deth P. Sun.
I’ve recently become obsessed with this artist’s website. His work is quite fun & totally hip, but it’s his honest, dear-diary descriptions that he’s written for each of his pieces that really caught my attention. I’ll admit that often while I’m looking through an illustrators site, I’ll click through six or seven images, until I get the gist of what they do, and then I’ll move on. Not so with Deth. For me it has to do with how casual his descriptions are & how they interact with the work. For example–the above image is coupled with this description:
“ The pink is a paint pen. 510 is Oakland’s Telephone Area Code (that’s for those of you who aren’t from the States). I draw down the word “Heavenly” a lot cause I used to like the band Heavenly a lot when I was 19. I used to tell people it was cause my Aunt had a donut shop in San Diego named ‘Heavenly’ (which is true), cause I was a bit embarrassed by the fact I was inspired to make paintings just cause I liked a band a lot.”
