I graduated from college three years ago, and ever since then I’ve had a hard time finding the motivation to make art. I was a fine art major in school, so I really miss making art but haven’t gotten used to the fact that there is no one making me do it! So, to get myself back into the swing of things, I started taking a pottery class at Claymakers Studio in Durham. It’s a wheel throwing class, and I’ve been scouring the internet and magazines for inspiration. I especially like the idea of altering pots after they’ve been thrown, and I seem to be really attracted to things with a lot of texture. I ran across the pieces above in the Italian version of Elle Decor. I like that Xie Dong’s work has a great sense of movement, and manages to be functional and a work of art at the same time.
